"I AM BLESSED" A Lesson in Blessings I Learned From My Mom...
MeMe is my mother. She fought breast cancer for a long seven years. Through the chemo, the tears, the physical pain of the cancer ravaging her body, she never gave up hope, never lost sight of how blessed she was. No matter what she was going through, she always said, "I am blessed". She witnessed to a lot of doctors and nurses, and in her last 6 days, while unresponsive, she witnessed to me. The smile in her words echoed in my ears as I sat next to her, watching her slowly breath, never knowing when it would be the last. The last few years of conversation ran through my head as I held her hand. She would say, "Honey, the older I get the more I realize, nothing matters. Just love. Love everybody."
Then I thought about her life. She would run back with love to the people who she knew would knock her down, get up again, and run back with love to another disappointment. All those brick walls never stopped my mom from loving people. It made her try harder.
That really hit me because I could no longer tell my mom, "I love You!" She knew because I always told her, but to say "I love You," knowing what it really means, would have been more special.
That is why my mom is so blessed. She understood what love really is because she took GOD's love and gave it to everybody else, which is why her love is so genuine and sincere and honest.
Be blessed.
